Ms. Aisha Fernandes and Ms. Louella Mesquita are appointed as Lecturers in Computer Engineering Department.
Ms. Jisa Randeer, Mr. Mahesh Caisucar and Mr. Ashish Prabhu are appointed as Lecturers in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Principal Dr. R. P. Adgaonkar, Dr. Luis Mesquita, Head of Computer and IT Department and Dr. Anil Seth and Dr. Brian Antao, Professors in the Computer Engineering Department attended a conference on “Quality in Technical Education-Challenges Ahead” organized by the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). The speakers on the occasion were Dr. V. V. Kamat, Head of Department of Computer Sciences and Application-Goa University, Dr. Deepak B. Phatak, School of Information Technology, IIT-Mumbai, Mr. Navelkar, TCS-Mumbai and Dr. Goel, Director, BITS-Goa.
Principal Dr. R. P. Adgaonkar, Dr. Luis Mesquita, Head of Computer and IT Engineering Department and Dr. Anil Seth and Dr. Brian Antao, Professors in the Computer Engineering Department attended conference on “Out Sourcing Challenges Ahead” organized by Goa Agenda-IT Seminar on the 4th and 5th of February ’05 at Cidade de Goa. Topics of talk were Software Development, Research and Development, Business Process Outsourcing and Common Impact-Social and Political Concerns and Opportunities.
Mr. Vinay Shirodkar, Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department, presented a lecture on “Productivity and Quality Management” at Mandovi Pallets Ltd., a sister concern of Chowgule.
Dr. Stephen Dias Barreto, Head of Humanities Department, contributed a paper entitled “Some Topics in Quantum Disordered Systems”, jointly authored by Dr. Francisco Fidalco, Dipartmento di Matematica, Universita di Roma, to the proceedings of the International Conference on Real Analysis and Measure Theory “XI CARTEMI”, held at Ischia-Italy, in July ’04.
Dr. K. R. Pai, Head of the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department and Mr. Joseph Rodrigues, Head of the Electronics Department-Fr. Agnel Polytechnic presented a paper on “FIR Filter for Speech Processing Application” at the National Conference on Vision and Image Processing, Shimoga, in March’05.
Dr. K. R. Pai, Head of the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department and Mr. Joseph Rodrigues, Head of the Electronics Department-Fr. Agnel Polytechnic presented the following papers at the International Level:

Ms. Nayana Shenvi, Ms. Natasha Viegas e Lopes and Ms. Komala Soares Lecturers in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department attended a programme on “Digital Control” conducted by IIT-Bombay at Distance Education Centre, VIT, Goa University from 20th June ’05 to 24th June ’05.
Ms. Komala Soares and Ms. Natasha Viegas e Lopes Lecturers in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department attended a short term programme on “PC Maintenance and Trouble Shooting” conducted by NITTTR, Porvorim from 27th June ‘05 to 1st July ’05.
Ms. Komala Soares, Ms. Natasha Viegas e Lopes and Ms. Nayana Shenvi Lecturers in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department attended a short term programme on “MS Project” conducted by NITTTR, Porvorim from 4th July ’05 to 8th July ’05.
Mrs. Neena Panandikar, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department, attended a one week course on “Physical Modelling in Geotechnical Engineering” at IIT, Mumbai.
Mrs. Geetalakshmi K, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department attended a two week short term staff development programme entitled “Effective Teaching and Knowledge Management” held between June 13th and 25th, 2005 at Lakshmi Narain College of Engineering, Bhopal.
Mr. Vinay Shirodkar, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, attended a one week course on “Multi-Point Fuel Injection and Repairs and Maintenance of Vehicles” at NITTR Extension Centre, Porvorim, from 13th to 18th January 2005.

Mr. Dayanand Pai and Mrs. Geetalaxmi Lecturers in the Mechanical Engineering Department have registered for PhD in National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Suratkal.
Mrs. Neena Panandikar, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department has completed her M.Tech in Structural Engineering at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Suratkal.

Mrs. Tania C. Silva is promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. Adarsh Handa is promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Humanities.
Mr. V. V. Bhujle is promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Humanities.
Mr. Jaganath Hirkude and Mr. Suraj Rane are appointed as Assistant Professors in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Lecture on “Physics and Metaphysics” by Swami Chidananda of Krishnamurthy Foundation of India on 21st July ’05.
Mr. M. C. Asthana, Deputy Director of Institute of Maritime Studies presented a lecture on “Career Development in Maritime Engineering”, on 26th July ’05.
Dr. Guilherme Almieda e Brito, Director of MBA Catolica, Universidade Catolica Portuguesa, accompanied by Dr. Fatima Barros, Dean of the School of Economics and Management and Dr. Rahul Shanu Pai Panandikar, Professor at the Lisbon University gave a presentation on “Opportunities for Students to pursue Management Studies in Portugal”.
Tech-n-Vision 2005 was inaugurated at the hands of the Chief Guest for the event Dr. S. P. Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. Dr. Mishra gave the Late. Fr. Agnel Memorial Lecture on “Entrepreneurship-A step towards Nation Building”. The event was held on the 18th and 19th February.

Alumni Association of PCCE under the presidentship of Ms. Jisa Randeer, Lecturer in Mechanical Department in collaboration with the Training and Placement Officer Mr. Staju Jacob organized an Inter-Class Debate Competition in the college auditorium. One student was selected from each class and the final round was held on 30th April 2005. The prizes were handed over to the winners by the Principal on the same day.

Analysis conducted by the Examination Cell of Semester VIII exams, which were held in May/June 2005 revealed the following pass percentage for each branch:
Mr. Malcolm Gomes B.E (Electronics and Telecommunications) student scored 99.1 percentile in CAT. Mr. Mayur Raicar B.E (Information Technology) scored 98.41 percentile and Mr. Rahul Dhawalikar of Computer Department (2005 passout) scored 99.01 percentile in GATE.
Earl D’Cunha, Nikhil Dubhashi, Varun Sawardekar and Yogiraj Kamat ex-students of the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering branch, presented a paper on “Adaptive Signal Processing- A Reliable Communication System between a Missile and a Sea-Based base Station”, at K. Shankar paper presentation contest organized by IEEE, Mumbai on 22nd April ’05

Like every year this year also Padre Conceição College of Engineering, Verna-Goa conducted the Blood Donation Camp with a slogan “Donate Blood to Save Precious Lives”. It was organized on 22nd February, ’05 in association with Hospicio Hospital, Margao-Goa. An overwhelming response was received with seventy students and staff members donating blood. The drive was coordinated by Mrs. Martha Rebello along with Ms. Jayalakshmi Devate, Mr. Olavo D’Souza and Mr. Ravindra S.
An induction programme was held on July 22nd and 23rd, 2005 for the First Year Engineering Students.
The Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering organized a workshop, “PIC Microcontrollers” on 5th February ’05. The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Komala Soares, Lecturer in the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department. Mr. Deepak Chodankar, General Manager, D-Link gave a seminar on “An Industrial View on Microcontrollers”.
The Senate organized Speak Out “Seminar Competition” on the 21st February 2005.
IEEE and SENATE organized “AVISHKAR”, an Electronics Project Competition on 18th and 19th April ’05.
“Manthan ‘05” a Technical Event was organized by the students of Computer Engineering and Information Technology Departments at Padre Conceição College of Engineering under the Computer Society of India – Goa Chapter, Students Branch, in association with the Government of Goa-Department of Technology on the 18th and 19th March. The speakers for the event were Mr. Sanjeev Nadkarni, General Manager of NE Technologies, Mr. K. D. Kulkarni, CEO of Controlnet and Dr. Anupam Saraph, IT Advisor to the Government of Goa. Manthan ’05 covered the following events:
Buddhi Avishkaar (Software Programming), Rachana (Hardware and Software Modelling Presentation), Kala Kaushalya (Graphics Studio),Gyan Bodh (Paper Presentation) and Vyakhyana Mala (Guest Lecture)

Ms. Emily Thomas, Education Projects Manager, British Council Division, along with a fellow representative Ms. Rao of the British Council of India, visited the college on 1st July ’05 to discuss the student scholarships, opportunities to pursue higher studies in the UK and the possibilities of faculty exchange programs between Institutions in the UK and Padre Conceição College of Engineering, Verna-Goa.
