The computing laboratories consists of 6 labs which together contain a mix of around 25 high-end Pentium based Server Systems running Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Red Hat Linux operating systems.
The servers include the print servers, network file servers and database which support over 300 Linux, Macintosh (E-Macs) and Windows based clients in the department, database servers and software servers.
The following Servers are available:
- Linux Fedora Core 2 and 3
- Windows 2003 Advanced Server
- IBM AIX 5.3 Platform
Databases:
- Oracle 10g Rel. 2 Enterprise Edition
- Postgres
- DB2 8.2 Database
- MySQL
- MS-SQL Server 2005
Development Platforms:
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003/2005
- Websphere Application Server
One Lab is fully equipped with 64-bit Systems. Recently, the college has procured the high performance IBM platform running the AIX 5.3 Operating System, DB2 8.2 Database and Websphere Application Server WAS 5.1. The college is also a member of the Microsoft Academic Alliance and as such has the complete range of Microsoft software for academic purpose. Apart from the Microsoft and Red Hat Linux software, the laboratory supports a variety of other software which include over a dozen programming languages, Development Environments , advanced tools for Graphics, Numerical computing, CAD/CAM Tools and VHDL Design. With the state-of-art facilities, the labs allow students to perform experiments and do research to reflect current industry needs.
The laboratories are equipped with powerful Xeon-based Servers running Windows 2003 and Linux-based Server running LTSP (http://www.ltsp.org) which permits centralised computing using diskless workstations. The department network facilities includes switched 100 Mbps connections to every server and workstation in the department and also an high speed 1 Mbps leased line Internet connection available at every server and workstation.
